About
Mesgi’g Ugju’s’n Phase 2

Building on the success of phase 1, the Mesgi'g Ugju's'n 2 wind project continues our commitment to renewable and local energy.

Phase 2 of the project aims to increase renewable energy production with 19 new wind turbines, raising energy capacity to 102.24 MW.

An equal partnership between the Mi'gmawei Mawiomi Business Corporation and Innergex Renewable Energy, the project aims for commercial operation by December 2026.

Explore previous stages of construction and future phases of the project.

About

The Mesgi'g Ugju's'n 2 (MU2) wind power project aims to empower Mi'gmaq communities by integrating renewable energy into the Rivière-Nouvelle region. Designed to harmonize with the natural territory of the MRC d'Avignon, it meets the growing demand for clean energy while actively involving local communities. Rigorous environmental monitoring is planned to minimize impacts on ecosystems, in line with the principles of sustainable development.

Next Steps

The next stages of the Mesgi'g Ugju's'n 2 project will begin with construction in 2024, paying particular attention to environmental protection measures. Commercial operation is scheduled for December 2026. The project comprises three phases: construction, 30-year operation and decommissioning, with rigorous recycling of materials.

Community Benefits

The MU2 project will create around 200 jobs during construction, and ensure stable revenues for the three Mi'gmaq communities and the Avignon MRC. Profits will be distributed to support community projects, with funds dedicated to social engagement and renewable energy training, reinforcing its positive regional impact.
